This morning I had a lazy work from home day ahead of me, so I decided to make it a bit of a a mask morning. I purchased the NIOD Myrrh Clay mask from Deciem.com when they had their incredible Black Friday Sales. It was part of a Mask Trio that was 60% off RRP. I’ve used this a few times now and wanted to share my review.
Product: NIOD Myrr Clay Treatment Masque 50 ml/1.7 fl oz.
Claims: On their website NIOD bills this as a treatment masque to visibly firm this skin without leaving a film on the skin’s surface. the NIOD websites states “the main benefit of topically-applied myrrh is visible and immediate firmness to the skin”
My thoughts: When I first got this mask I was skeptical about claims of visible firmness and worries this would be too drying for my dry and dehydrated skin, however I was pleasantly surprised. The texture, although it’s a clay masque, was much thinner and more viscous than other clay masques I use. The best way I can describe the consistency is like Vegemite ( or marmite for those barbarics out there) it’s certainly not an unpleasant smell, but it’s definitely a bit yeasty.
Applying it to the skin I can see that a little bit goes a long way and the instructions clearly state to apply a thin layer, which is easier to do based on its more viscous consistency. I let it dry down for 10 minutes while I made my coffee, and then rinse off using a flannel to clear away any excess.
Whilst I cant say I saw ‘visible firmness’ the first time I used this, today I have noticed that my face looks smooth and perky, so its winning on that front. My one small gripe with this mask is the pot it comes in is quite deep as opposed to a wide pot. Im not a huge fan of having to stick my finger in down the bottle and trying to scoop out product. Its a small nitpick but its the type of thing that really bugs me.
Cost: The current cost on the website is $56.00 AUD which equates to roughly $1.15 per ml. Plus shipping.
